Our team

Our employees are Latin America professionals who not only have excellent knowledge of tourism: They are familiar with the country and its people from many years of living there and have traveled for months on end themselves - if they are not even from a Latin American country. For us, the region from Mexico to Tierra del Fuego is part of our lives, a **home away from home** and a matter close to our hearts.

Specialist for travel in Central America, Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Colombia and Antarctica.

There is hardly a country in Latin America that Kathrin von Schiller does not know. She spent some time in Cuba, traveled through Central and South America for several months, hiked through the Torres del Paine National Park (Chile) with her young son in a backpack, dived with dolphins in the Atlantic off Fernando de Noronha - and will never forget what it feels like to look a jaguar in the glowing eyes ...
Kathrin von Schiller's enthusiasm for bike tours was awakened when she rode through Bolivia on her eBike in spring 2018. Traveling through a country in this way - she says in retrospect - simply cannot be compared to any other travel experience ...

**Colombia has a very special place in my heart. Dense rainforests, snow-capped mountains and deserted beaches, archaeological sites, unparalleled hospitality, the best coffee in the world and the rhythm of salsa music... Who can resist this combination?

Yessica advises specifically on travel to Mexico, Guatemala, Belize and Costa Rica. She studied tourism management, then worked for an airline for a long time and speaks fluent Spanish as well as German and English.

On her first trip outside Europe, to Argentina and Brazil, Yessica immediately fell in love with Latin America. This was followed by many backpacking trips through various countries in South and Central America, which inspired her so much with their diverse landscapes, cultures, colors, traditions, music and cuisine that at some point she simply stayed. Today, Yessica lives on the Pacific coast of Oaxaca in Mexico and advises you on your next trip to colorful Central America under palm trees and with the sound of the sea in the background.

**My favorite place is the Cascadas Mágicas de Copalitilla waterfalls in Mexico. Only a few tourists come here so far and you can become one with nature and enjoy the turquoise blue, cool water.

Managing Director

Ralf Heidlindemann began his career as a doctor in Bolivia. He spent several years there and learned to love the Andes. Back in Germany, he couldn't get the images out of his mind. He wanted to help the people in the long term.

The idea of organizing and leading trips to the countries himself took shape - he founded lateinamerika.reisen. Today, the one-man company has grown into a nationwide specialist for trips to all Latin American countries with 11 employees.
In 2017, Ralf Heidlindemann founded the **Pedalito** brand, under which - with lateinamerika.reisen's many years of destination expertise behind him - eBike tours in Latin America are now offered. As an enthusiastic cyclist, Ralf Heidlindemann has ridden almost all the tours himself! A way of traveling that tops everything he has experienced so far, he says.

Even in his youth, Daniel commuted between two cultures, as he has German parents and grew up in Spain. Twenty years ago, he got to know a continent that has stayed with him to this day. He has worked in tourism and development aid in Venezuela, Cuba, Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador and Bolivia. This has given him many insights into the lives of the locals. He was also a dog trainer in Lima, a freelance journalist in the conflict areas of Colombia, Santa Claus with street children in Quito and a guide in Machu Picchu.
In all these activities, he experienced the joy of life and spontaneity of the people.

**My favorite places are the Ilha Grande in Brazil with palm beaches and the green and crystal clear sea, Machu Picchu, a fascinating historical site where I wander into the past and the 6000m Ausangate, which I circumnavigated in 5 days, passing dozens of lagoons in a unique mountain landscape.

Petra is from Switzerland. And since Switzerland is a small country, she was always drawn out into the world from a young age. Initially to France, Italy and Spain and then further and further afield, sometimes just in her mind or while looking at and reading travel books. She was particularly taken with Central and South America and finally ended up in Peru, where she still lives, more precisely in a small community in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. She is responsible for the pictures and the content of our website. And if there are no great pictures, she takes them herself! What she particularly likes is discovering small places, off the beaten tourist track.

**My favorite place is the small valley with the little waterfalls near my house, which I always like to visit with my dogs. Sometimes I also plunge into the very cool water.
